VNA racking for a warehouse that grows upwards in Rotherham

image
  • 3,000 new pallet positions in just 3 weeks.
  • High-bay racking system designed to optimise space and efficiency.

AR Racking, together with its distributor AVANTA, has completed the expansion of an existing facility in Rotherham (United Kingdom) to increase storage capacity and make full use of the warehouse’s available volume. The solution was designed to operate at ambient temperature with standard UK pallets, opting for Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) Pallet Racking, which allows for much slimmer aisles and full use of the building height—adding more pallet positions in the same footprint while keeping operations agile and safe.

The installed solution is VNA Pallet Racking with heights between 16 and 18 metres and 3,000 locations, engineered by AR’s team to strike the best balance between robustness and cost. The installation included aisle ties at special height, adapted to the building layout and the material handling equipment, plus sprinkler brackets according to site requirements. The total programme was 3 weeks from receipt of materials.

“This expansion shows how a well-sized VNA lets you grow upwards while maintaining safety and flexibility. Together with AVANTA we aligned engineering and installation to increase density and leave the system ready for future reconfiguration”, says Gonzalo Crovetto, Sales Manager UK at AR Racking.

“At AVANTA our focus was enabling the customer to add capacity without slowing operations. The special-height aisle ties and the ability to adjust beam levels give the installation the stability and versatility to support their growth”, say Neil Blackshaw and Nick Saint, project leads at AVANTA UK Ltd.

With this project, AVANTA and AR Racking strengthen their collaboration in the UK market, delivering a VNA solution that maximises the use of available volume and accelerates the customer’s expansion of logistics capacity.
