AR Racking boosts Lucuslog’s capacity with a dual-Shuttle solution (Video)

AR Racking has completed a key project in the 10,600 m² logistics centre operated by Lucuslog S.L. in Begonte (Lugo, Spain). In barely two weeks, the AR Racking team extended an existing Shuttle block—from 33 to 38 pallet depths—and installed a brand-new block with 12 lanes, 5 levels and 20 pallet depths. The result: 2,000 additional storage locations for both Euro-pallets and US pallets of dairy products.

The intervention addresses Lucuslog’s top priority: absorbing growing dairy demand without sacrificing agility or inventory control. “This expansion gives us the extra capacity we need to keep pace with sector growth while maintaining operational efficiency and product traceability,” says Pablo Bouvard, head of the Galician company, who notes that day-to-day operations continued uninterrupted throughout the project.

To achieve this, AR Racking’s engineering team planned a “surgical” intervention within the existing facility. “We integrated the new Shuttle block without disrupting current flows and made use of every available cubic metre,” explains Xose Anxo Pérez, project manager at AR Racking. The structure was raised to 10 metres and reinforced to withstand the higher density, ensuring safety and durability.

AR Racking’s AR Shuttle system—operated by automated shuttles that move the load within each lane—delivers faster in-and-out cycles, less risk of damage and lower operating costs compared with conventional solutions. “Shuttle automation lets us prepare orders with greater accuracy and less effort,” adds Bouvard, convinced that the investment has future-proofed the site for upcoming seasonal peaks.

Pérez agrees on the long-term impact: “We have not only increased capacity; we have created a scalable platform that can grow alongside LUCUSLOG’s business.” The installation is now ready for future expansion phases, where additional levels or depths can be added without halting activity.
